It has been reported that The Neighbourhood has been axed (Image: ITV)

The news of Wheel of Fortune’s renewal offers a welcome boost for the star, following reports that his ITV reality programme The Neighbourhood had been cancelled after just a single series.

The game show, in which six real-life households uprooted themselves to a self-contained street to compete for a £250,000 jackpot, launched in April and initially aired in a coveted 9pm slot.

Yet within a fortnight of its debut, the show was stripped of its prime-time position, amid reports of disappointing viewing figures.

The Mirror subsequently reported that the programme had been axed altogether.
