Savannah Guthrie Issues Desperate Plea As Family Searches For Missing Mother Nancy Guthrie
Savannah Guthrie has made an emotional public appeal as her family continues the urgent search for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.
The Today show co anchor revealed that her family is “at an hour of desperation” as authorities investigate what they now believe to be a criminal case. Nancy, 84, was reported missing on January 31 in Tucson, Arizona. By February 2, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office officially classified her disappearance as a crime after what officials described as “concerning” evidence was discovered at her home.
Savannah Guthrie Says Family Is “At An Hour Of Desperation”
In a newly shared Instagram video, Savannah Guthrie, 54, pleaded with the public for help.
“We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help,” she said.
She emphasized that law enforcement agencies are working continuously to locate Nancy but acknowledged that time is critical.
“Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home — trying to find her. She was taken and we don’t know where. And we need your help,” Savannah stated.
The television journalist urged anyone, regardless of location, to report suspicious activity.
“So I’m coming on just to ask you not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are — even if you’re far from Tucson — if you see anything, if you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you — that you report to law enforcement,” she said.
“We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”
FBI Offers $50,000 Reward In Nancy Guthrie Case
As the investigation continues, the FBI has stepped in to assist local authorities. On February 5, the agency announced a $50,000 reward for information that leads to Nancy being found, and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
Officials confirmed that investigators are reviewing a ransom note demanding bitcoin, which was shared with media outlets. However, authorities also revealed that a separate fake ransom note led to an arrest.
FBI Agent Heith Janek clarified that the fraudulent message came from “someone that was trying to profit from [Nancy’s case], a total imposter.”
He issued a warning to anyone attempting to exploit the situation for financial gain.
“My next message is to those imposters who are trying to take advantage and profit from this situation,” Janek said.
Family Willing To Pay For Nancy’s Safe Return
Over the weekend, Savannah appeared in another video alongside her siblings, Cameron and Annie. In that message, the family acknowledged receiving communication believed to be connected to the case.
“We received your message, and we understand,” Savannah said.
“We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”
The video did not disclose details about the specific message referenced.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
At this time, authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or person of interest. Law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence and follow leads.
Savannah Guthrie has asked the public to remain alert and report any information that may assist investigators in locating Nancy safely.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact law enforcement immediately.
