BREAKING: Karmelo Anthony’s Shocking High School GPA Revealed During Trial

Karmelo Anthony’s academics comes in.

The murder trial of Karmelo Anthony began Thursday in Texas, bringing renewed attention to the teenager accused of fatally st@bbing fellow student Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet last year.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the d3ath of 17-year-old Metcalf during an argument over seating at a track event in Frisco. Anthony has pleaded not guilty and claims he acted in self-defense.

During opening statements, defense attorney Mike Howard gave jurors a picture of Anthony’s life before the incident. He described Anthony as a hardworking student, athlete, and employee. Howard said Anthony maintained a 3.7 GPA while balancing school, sports, and two jobs.

Howard also told jurors that Anthony comes from a close family. According to the defense, his mother worked as a nurse before leaving her job to raise her children, while his father works as a finance manager at a car d3alership. Anthony is the oldest of four children.

Howard said the family moved from Louisiana to the Dallas area during Anthony’s freshman year. After the move, Anthony joined the football team and also competed in baseball and track.

The defense used those details to present Anthony as a teenager with strong ties to school and family. Howard described him as an “A student” who worked hard in the classroom and in extracurricular activities.

Meanwhile, prosecutors focused on the events that led to Metcalf’s d3ath.

Prosecutor Bill Wirskye shared Metcalf’s final words with the jury. According to Wirskye, Metcalf lifted his shirt and said, “I’ve been st@bbed,” before he fell down the bleacher steps. His brother, Hunter Metcalf, rushed to help him.

Prosecutors also showed surveillance footage from the day of the incident. They said the video captured Anthony and Metcalf struggling for about four minutes before Anthony ran from the tent area toward a stadium exit.

The case has drawn national attention and also started questions about race and fairness. Jury selection began earlier this week, and attorneys questioned roughly 600 potential jurors before choosing the final panel. The trial is expected to last about two weeks.
