A BBC star has provided an update on a horrific health setback after his bicep “ripped”.

Gladiator Matt Morsia disclosed that part of him was “hanging off” following an accident while filming the show.

The athlete features among the new wave of Gladiators, having joined the likes of Steel and Fury on the BBC revival, which launched in 2024.

Appearing on Sunday Brunch this weekend (June 7) alongside the likes of Fearne Cotton and Talia Mar, Matt gave a health update following surgery he underwent last year.

When quizzed about his injury, having previously spoken publicly about it, Matt delivered a stomach-churning response, reports the Mirror.

“I detached my bicep, so it was just hanging off,” he revealed.

Matt went on to explain he was participating in a Gladiators game that was “really high up” where he was “tackling” a contender.

He said: “I dived, grabbed the contender but he’d managed to hold on to the big post at the end, so I had flown off and my arm ripped behind me.

“I thought I’d ripped his vest off because I heard this massive rip. Turned out, it was just my bicep.”

Offering a reassuring update on his current condition, Matt added: “It’s all good now.”

Matt had previously shared his injury on social media, after undergoing surgery last year and saying it was “the worst [time] of my life”.

He shared: “A few weeks ago I tore my distal bicep tendon off the bone whilst filming Gladiators. Surgery went really well and I’m gonna be back in no time because I’m a genetic freak, but I’ll be honest and say the last three weeks have easily been the worst of my life.

“I had intense post-operative sickness, didn’t eat for 12 days, and lost around 15kg in bodyweight. You can watch my YouTube video for more detail, but for now I’m off to eat some pizza and do some 1kg bicep curls.

“P.S. massive shoutout to @smorsia for literally staying by my side 24/7 the whole time. Absolute hero and wouldn’t have made it through without you.”

He was showered in support from fans and friends alike, with JB Gill writing: “Feel better soon broski.”

“Big love,” fellow Gladiator Jodie Ounsley said, while Zack George wrote: “My boi you will heal rapiddddddd.”

Angela Scanlon added: “Get well soon pal,” as the Gladiators account wrote: “Even injured, still a LEGEND. This comeback is going to be one for the history books!”
