ITV Sport have signed up Strictly Come Dancing winner Karen Carney and Everton legend Duncan Ferguson amongst their stars to front the football World Cup coverage. The channel unveiled their full line up today with coverage largely based from ITV ’s studios in Brooklyn, New York. By contrast over on the BBC, in a money-saving move, the main hosts will work from the UK using a feed of the games.

ITV Coverage will be mainly anchored by Mark Pougatch and Laura Woods along with Semra Hunter, as they are joined by a star studded line-up of the very best football pundits, presenters, commentators and reporters.

The full line up of pundits named so far is Roy Keane, Ian Wright, Gary Neville, Patrick Vieira, Karen Carney, Ange Postecoglou, Juan Mata, Emma Hayes, Duncan Ferguson, Jobi McAnuff and Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Commentary will be led by Sam Matterface, Jon Champion, Seb Hutchinson and Joe Speight. Co-commentary is provided by Lee Dixon, Ally McCoist, Andros Townsend and Lucy Ward.

Before winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2025, Carney played football for England at four World Cups. She thinks the players will be able to cope with the hotter climate.

Carney said: “Even myself as a player I did heat acclimatisation and you do everything you can to prepare. There is a strategy in place so when the players get out there they’re in the best position possible. The longer we are in it, the stronger I think we will get.”

Ian Wright said: “It’s a brilliant squad, full of world class players. I’ve got total faith if this team plays well we can get to the semis and the final again.”

And Roy Keane added: “New York is a fabulous place to work and the studio looks amazing.”

Over on BBC the rival line up has also now been announced – but their main hosts won’t get to go to New York or even get to America.Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan
