The Princess of Wales made a dazzling appearance in London on Tuesday evening, but her sartorial choice has left fans divided. Princess Catherine looked glamorous in red as she joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at St James’s Palace for Cancer Research UK’s 125th anniversary.
The future Queen dazzled in a red polka dot silk dress, with a pair of red shoes and a red clutch. She also sported diamond and ruby jewellery, while her hair was styled in her signature loose waves.

But while some fans loved her outfit, others found it to be “dated”.

One user wrote on the fashion page Royal Fashion Police’s Instagram account: “The line between vintage and old-fashioned is very thin. This dress is old-fashioned.”
Another one said: “The 80s called they want their dress back. I really dont know what is going on with kates style this past year, she used to be the best dressed royal globally. I understand she doesn’t want fashion to be the focus but that is part of her job she cant run away from it.”
A third person commented: “Very Minnie mouse.”
A fourth user added: “eally surprised this is Rodarte. A very dated look.”

A fifth one then said: “I agree with the other comments. This isn’t vintage it’s outdated. It’s 80s but lazy 80s fashion.”
A sixth one opined: “This dress is way too ‘80s. I miss her old style.”
Others fell in love with Catherine’s dress, with one user writing on X: “OMG. Catherine is just gorgeous. It’s all perfect. Red suits her (and the DoE the other day) – it’s a colour for a chosen few.”
Another one commented: “What a lovely, happy looking dress! Great choice for the occasion!”
A third one chimed: “Dress looks perfect for her… always beautiful!”
